When students come into my science classroom, they are separated into 7 groups with 4 students in each group. When teaching students about collaboration, problem solving, and open discussion, I use different strategis. When students want to research further about the topic we are discussing, I can only limit the research to one or two topics due to the lack of technology in the classroom. STEM is about problem solving and determining solutions to real world problems. When students need to explore further and the hands-on materials are not enough, I would love to turn to the technology to allow students to see videos from scientists from around the world, research their questions they may have before creating a question for themselves to solve. This is the age to peak each child's interest in the real world and allow them to create their own solutions to their problems.
