My students have disabilities that affect their motor and sensory skills. While Kinesthetic desks are nice, they are extremely expensive. So, in my class, we are working on adding alternative seating options. The students will get to choose what kind of chair to sit in at any given point throughout the day. What is important is that these chairs help with the natural wiggles my students have, along with giving them a choice in what works best for their own learning. Only 20 minutes in a hard chair isn't comfortable, why would we expect 8-11 year olds to sit in them for 1-2 hours at a time?
