The cadets are motivated to look good in uniform, but need just a little help with the materials. They are provided the entire uniform, including shoes, but they are required to provide their shoe care materials on their own. We need shoe polish and brushes to help with this. NJROTC cadets need to have shoe polish to shine their shoes to the high gloss expected. This teaches the cadets to take care with their appearance, have pride in their appearance, and prepares them for the competitive world. I have known many cadets that wear their shoes to their first job interview! Think about the confidence these young people will have when they are standing inspection, and they know they look good in uniform because of their detailed preparation. If they can develop the discipline to shine their shoes, that will make all the difference in their other subjects. Excellence learned in one area tends to carry over into other areas, and this level of attention to detail is a game changer!
