My students need leveled readers that will help them to gain skills to become fluent readers as well as storage bins to keep them neatly together. One area my students struggle the most with is learning to read. They attend a school that is unfairly referred to as a "barrio school." I'm requesting leveled readers and support materials that will aid in their understanding on the written word. At the reading station in my classroom, each student will have the opportunity to choose books that are appropriate for them developmentally. In my classroom, we practice reading skills much of the day. The addition of a leveled reader library would give my students a much needed boost of practice in the areas of reading. Students who are confident in their reading abilities will be ready to face the challenges of higher level thinking.
