This technology will allow the students to be more active participants in their learning. They will be able to perform research, participate in virtual science labs, collaborative games and projects, have access to Google Classroom, etc. The tablets will be used as tools in 'flipped learning', which supports a more learner-centered classroom environment. The cell phone storage cabinet will be a safe place for students to keep their phones stored away as well as charged to keep cell phone distractions out of the students' hands to maximize instructional time! There have been multiple studies that show that access to cell phones in the classroom significantly reduces students' attention spans and performance in the classroom. With the implementation of the cell phone locker/charger, I will undoubtedly have a high-performing classroom!
