My students absolutely love dramatic play! They become so excited when I blow my wooden train whistle knowing their next center rotation is "kitchen"! A classroom kitchen area assists students in developing appropriate social skills that many of them aren't taught outside the classroom. I also feel like the interaction between the students helps to enhance student vocabulary. Many of my students will always remember the relationships that were built "playing" in my kindergarten kitchen! Our current kitchen is now unsafe with missing doors and visible nails. Over the years, the plastic food has gradually diminished or become smashed. The utensils are broken and filthy. It is my wish to provide them with a new and safe dramatic play area where learning comes alive!
