I am requesting math and literacy manipulatives for our classroom this year and the years to come. Manipulatives are a vital visual representation of how young students learn. Literacy manipulatives that I have asked for include: hear myself sound phone, alphabet mystery box, alphabet bots, and rhyming sound matching. My students will use the literacy items to enhance skills in letters, letter sounds, rhyming, and hearing themselves read. I believe these hands on literacy activities will engage them to learn through play. The math manipulatives that I have asked for include: ten frame magnetic board, addition tower, vehicle and bug counters, ladybug counting box, magnetic coins, and etc. The math items will engage students in academic areas of number recognition, counting on, addition and subtraction and recognition and value of coins. Using manipulatives will engage my students to acquire knowledge through a hands-on learning experience. Students will use the variety of manipulatives to increase their knowledge of math and literacy skills. Skills such as letters, sounds, rhyming, addition, subtraction, number recognition and other academic measures in the classroom will be apart of the learning achieved through these manipulaitves. I am proud to be apart of a profession that creates a educational impact on students and their parents. I am very excited to collect math and literacy manipulatives for my first project on donors choose! Thank you for allowing this experience possible.
