Areas my kids most struggle with are the basic areas of reading and math. My kids are from high poverty areas and have limited to no access to the necessary tools for them to become successful learners. As a result, it's a constant challenge to meet each students needs appropriately. Currently, when learning new subjects my students are easily overwhelmed and lack practice with new skills taught due to the limited ways information can be presented and explored. My students strive to work hard together but struggle immensely grasping concepts learned in the classroom due to the lack of basic resources.Having access to these sought after math and reading resources will provide my students with the opportunity to explore their learning and use concrete manipulates to aid in their learning endeavors. The math resources will allow students to have an interactive hands on approach during lessons of difficult concepts. Having such resources would allow my students to actively construct their learning by providing them with an appropriate support system. Additionally, helping me provide my students with such classroom tools will help them develop a love for learning and begin to understand that learning can be fun! Access to these tools would provide my students with a classroom environment that is safe, fun, rigorous, and meets the needs of each student as an individual. Students should be able to explore their learning and construct their knowledge and these tools would give my students the opportunity to do just that!
