The triple beam balances will allow my physical science classes the opportunity to measure the mass of objects in class. The ability to measure mass is a fundamental skill that will allow my students to be able to calculate density, kinetic energy, potential energy, and momentum, just to name a few. Currently, we have four balances for a class of 32 students, which makes it difficult for every student to have the opportunity to participate. Research has proven that students learn science best by doing science. The donations for this project will increase student achievement by allowing my students to do hands-on science labs in class.
