Kindergarten students need books to read that are colorful, interesting, and at their level! Giving students "real" books to read during the reading workshop is so motivating and the students get excited about having a real book instead of a black and white printable booklet. Having an abundance of books helps make the reading workshop motivating because the students can have new books more often in their book bags. Students get excited to read when there are books in their book bags that are interesting to them! Learning to read is a critical skill for the rest of a student's education. Teachers have to have the necessary tools to do a good job teaching students to read. Most teachers can't afford to buy enough books to have a rich classroom library. I have spent hundreds of dollars buying books for my students. Having more books would help to make my students even more successful! Kindergarten students are motivated to learn to read when they have engaging books to look forward to. When they can actually read them, they love it! Please help my students by giving them more books to read!
