Have you ever wanted to show 27 first graders the tiny new plant growing inside a lima bean? Have you wanted to do a choral reading of a little book? Did a caterpillar start changing into a chrysalis in the middle of a lesson and you wanted everyone to be able to watch? I’ve had all these experiences happen in my room and so much more. All of these things were made possible with the use of a document camera. Document cameras have opened a word to educators that has endless possibilities. We are able to share the smallest of items with everyone at the same time. Students are able to proudly display their work for everyone to see while they talk about it. Math problems can be manipulated for all to see. Our classroom would benefit from having a document camera to make all of these and so much more happen in our classroom.
