My scholars will use these books in their independent reading time. Each day, they are engaged in indepedent reading for 45-60 minutes. They are sprawled out on the carpet, snuggled up on the futon, or collaborating at the picnic table. They have numerous choices of where to read, but my classroom library is currently lacking chapter books. Having these chapter books will ensure that my students have choice in their reading selection each day. I have students both above and below reading level, so it is key that I have multiple chapter books for all of my scholars. Chapter books will help my students gain stamina in reading longer texts, as well as boost comprehension skills.
