The highlight every day is when we gather on the carpet for the day's read-aloud. I read each book with great enthusiasm, putting myself into character to transport us into the book. Doing so teaches fluency, energy, and the fun it can be to bring books alive. We learn new vocabulary words prior to reading that they will hear in the book. After learning new these new words, listening to the book read aloud, they then take time to write. This may be the problem/solution, the sequencing, or maybe the beginning-middle-end of the story.
