My students need 2 kindle fires to provide them with access to millions of books online. At our school we have a very small library of donated books and most of the books are above level for my students. I want to give students access to books that they otherwise would never get a chance to read; books that will spark their interests. We also will use the tablets to access our online learning websites such as IXL, Front Row, RazKids, Lexile (just to name a few). The websites give students a fun way to practice what they have learned in class. As everyone knows when your having fun it surely doesn't feel like you are learning. We will use these tablets during centers (I do centers for both reading and math). Students will be able to practice key skills that have been taught in class. Many of my students do not have internet access or a computer at their home. As we know, we are in the technology age and it is becoming more important for students to be able to access everything via technology. By giving them the gift of the tablets we will be preparing them for the future.
