The Reading Workshop consists of a daily reading mini lesson followed by an independent reading time in which students read books at their level. During this time, the teacher meets with students individually to customize the learning of each student. It is difficult (and expensive) to find good books in Spanish. My classroom library offers limited choices. We need more interesting books to truly support our goal of bilingualism for all of our students. We need books that inspire students to read more Spanish books and to write creative stories in that language. These books offer authentic stories written in Spanish by Spanish speakers. They will be used during our Reading and Writing Workshops.
