The desks in my classroom were donated from an old school, the chairs are cracked and small for some students, the desk tops are peeling away, and students have a hard time moving around the room with these type of desks. I have made them work for 8 years, but as education is evolving, our classrooms should as well. A "Learning Cafe" (coffee shop) type classroom is more of what would entice student learning today. With these high tables, students can stand while working, they can see the board more easily being elevated, and it provides more room within my classroom for them to work. I would sit two students per table; having the backs on the stools allows for them to hang their book bags to also free floor space. My classroom is mostly a fully digital class. We work on laptops, and having this type of atmosphere for learning would add to the engaging lessons we do within the class.
