Can you help us sharpen our pencils and our drawing skills?? I teach at a K-6 elementary school in an inner city. Our supply budget is limited and when I order supplies for the entire school, I often need to leave vital things off of my list due to lack of funds. In my classroom I currently have an old fashion metal wall mounted pencil sharpener screwed to the wall. My students turn and grind and create piles of pencil shavings to no avail. Valuable art time is wasted- time where they could be creating sensational works of art. These old sharpeners don't sharpen, but eat up the pencils and leave the students with a short nub. Sketching, planning and drawing are always the first step to any good project. These all require sharp pencils and sharp minds. Colored pencils and watercolor pencils help my students bring their art to life. Without good sharpeners, we loose precious art time as well as art materials.
