As it is in every classroom, every student has different needs and learning styles. Having worked in this community for multiple years, I recognize how important and difficult it is to meet the sensory and educational needs of every student in a class but by providing students with multiple choices of alternative seating I can better meet the needs of my students. I want to promote a classroom in which all learning styles are met and accepted, a place where students can feel comfortable to work and learn in a way that is best for them. If their bodies are at ease their minds will be ready to work. In this high energy, fast paced day and age it is unrealistic to expect children to sit quietly at their desks and work tirelessly for hours at a time. Some children need comfort (hence the pillows) while others needs constant movement (wobble cushions are great for this!), while still some need physical tension and resistance (bouncy bands anyone?). Whatever my students need, I want to be able to provide the resources they require in order to be a successful worker and learner.
