I recently participated in a Writer's Workshop Cohort in my county to gain a better understanding of a program that was implemented in 2015-16. I tried by best to implement the program last school year, but was reluctant without proper training. The main component of this program is having a gathering area for students to gather, learn, and have turn-and-talk time. The teaching cart serves as the focal point of these lessons that will be taught every day. It has the capability to hold a large post-it chart pad, materials, and mentor texts that will be used as references throughout the school year. The caddy set will serve as an organizational tool for small groups of students. They will hold all of the writing supplies necessary to make them fabulous writers! After my week long in-service, I'm ready for the 2016-17 school year to start tomorrow! It was an amazing experience and I can not wait to share what I learned with my students. The supplies that I have requested are only the tip of the iceberg, and I have already pulled many mentor texts from my personal bookshelf to utilize during this exciting adventure!
