Students come to me on many levels. Some can't count to 100 but others could jump into middle school. I need to differentiate and work with kids on their own levels each period. My 75 4th graders are full of personality! I teach math to 3 classes of children each day. Ask who loves Justin Bieber, plays soccer,or loves football, and many hands will shoot up. Ask a hard math question, however, and you'll only see one or two. My students are extremely bright and love to learn when you build a relationships and motivate them, but with a few exceptions they are extremely behind their peers in other states and higher income groups. Our school is 98% free and reduced lunch. Our school performance score is low, but growing despite our many obstacles, students, faculty, and parents are working hard for change but we need some extra help.
