I am requesting a classroom set of basic virtual reality headsets. My high school biology students will be able to engage with a cell in ways they never have before with this technology. They will be able to put their cell phones into the headset, put them on and experience the cell in 3D view, inside and out. These headsets will significantly help my students' understanding of the microscopic world of the cell and increase their interest and motivation for biology. They will also be able to go inside a human heart and even travel through our circulatory system! Near the end of the year, they will be able to build their own virtual reality experiences when we move into ecology. I will also be able to use these headsets with my Earth Space students. Lockheed Martin and NASA have many virtual experiences already online that will bring deep space to them in ways we never have before! Space brings out awe and encourages exploration.
