The materials that I have requested are going to be utilized to get the children's bodies and minds moving. We have a large playground, however it is impossible to accommodate 5 kindergarten classes at one time. If children have balls, jump ropes, bean-bags, etc., they will get more enjoyment and use of their outdoor time and they teachers will get the opportunity to set up and implement intentional teaching with the supplies and materials. These outdoor, physical play materials will give children the opportunity to run, kick, throw, catch, jump, hop and just have a good time! Once the body is moving, the mind will follow! Playing outdoors helps children with communication skills, (making and following rules), it also helps with number relationships (counting as you skip rope, keeping score in basketball games) as well as social skills (learning to cooperate and play together as a group or on a team).
