My students are growing and their minds work best when they have a choice in their learning environment. Just like adults enjoy coffee shops, working from home, music, a couch, or even the standard desk; all our needs are different. So are the needs of my fourth graders as they are figuring out how they learn and work best.
Their wiggly bodies only get one recess a day, for 20 minutes... and it is not enough as growing 9 and 10 year olds! They need to stretch and move to get their minds working.
In the corporate world, flexible work environments are blowing up and companies are finding that company culture cultivates success in their employees. We find the same thing to be true in the classroom. Having an environment for students to feel "at home" and like they have their own individual space to work creates a culture that is welcoming and encouraging.
Your donation would help us offer seating and working options for students to pick on a daily basis. Desks would still be available but so would wiggle chairs, a cushion for the floor, stools for different heights of desks, and wobble cushions for their chairs as they move.
