One size doesn't fit all. Everyone learns differently and has different preferences: some like to work alone, and some with partners, others like to listen to music, some like silence. When I am in professional development courses, I doodle. It doesn't mean I'm not listening, in fact, it helps me focus. My goal is to create a classroom that allows students to focus in their own way. Environment shapes experience, and my students need a classroom that allows them choice with where they work and tools to help them do it. Then students feel motivated and responsible for their own learning. When I give my students choices, I see greater excitement, more engagement and a larger desire to learn. Your donation would buy different seating options like stability balls, wobble stools, traditional stools, wiggle cushions and kick bands. It would also supply comfortable floor options like large pillows and small cushions. Not only does your donation provide multiple seating options, it provides students with "tools" needed to help them focus. This includes chew necklaces/bracelets, sensory rings, compression vests, and fidget cubes. These tools help calm, soothe, self regulate and focus students. Think about when you were in school, how would you learn best? Let's create an environment that allows my students to be comfortable, have choice, and flexibility. Thank you! .
