My school is a Leader In Me school and we are creating leaders in and out of the classroom through reading. Part of being a Leader in Me is being proactive and sharpening your saw. These books will allow students to be proactive by continuing their learning and reading these books at school and home. It will also encourage them to sharpen their saws by building on their reading skills and building their reading stamina with chapter books. I want to develop a love for reading so that students can continue to sharpen their saws. My mission as a teacher is to develop a desire to read. As third graders, we transition from learning to read, to reading to learn. I also wish to build their reading stamina by incorporating more chapter books in the classroom and at home. These books would be available for students to check out of our classroom library to practice reading skills in the classroom and at home.
