I teach second grade at a Title I school. This means that we serve a high percentage of free and reduced lunch. My school is located in rural North Carolina, in a district with many financially disadvantaged families. The class that I teach consists of children that are all below grade level in all areas. This group of kids work their little hearts out, they try so hard and really want to learn! It inspires me to want to give them EVERY opportunity available to get them on or even above grade level by the time they leave me. I need them to be successful third graders next year.
