The listening center and read along story sets will be used during centers and instill the love of reading and reading skills in my students. I am in need of a listening center because listening devices help children see how the words on the page can come alive in an expressive way. My students will be able to build upon their sight words, vocabulary, improve their listening skills and be exposed to various story structures that are age appropriate. Since I have a diverse group of students at various academic levels, the listening center and books that will be used at this center will support all students. Each and every child will be able to learn new vocabulary and listen to good interpretive reading that is appropriate to them. Listening to audio books teaches critical listening skills, introduces new genres, and invites students to listen to books above their level.
