Children are active! My reading classroom is active and hands-on. As a teacher, I have difficulty sitting still, so I completely understand classroom activity and unused energy. However, students need to be seated to silently read, test, or work on a project. Bouncy bands are created for this purpose. While seated, the children are able to rest their feet on a band and move. Movement allows the child the release of anxiety, frustration, and extra energy. The advantage is they complete their assignment while moving. These bands will benefit all my learners by allowing them to move while being seated. I have one band in my room now, and the kids take turns using it. They love that they are able to rest their feet on something, and move their legs, without disturbing others. Each band will go on all the chairs in my classroom, including my small group table. This gift will optimize learning and help our children focus their learning on their lesson.
