Kids learn best when they have choice and flexibility in their learning environment. This choice and flexibility includes their physical space, as well. Our days consist of reading, language arts, writing, and math rotations where the children are given the opportunity to work independently or in small groups. Children may sit anywhere in the classroom where they believe they can be successful. This is often on the floor or in a corner of the classroom. I have found that by giving the children choices in their learning it leads to greater ownership of their learning. With your generous donation, I will be able to begin transforming my students' learning space into flexible and functional seating choices. This will allow them to learn based on their learning style strengths. Comfortable cushions and floor chairs will be a great start to putting them on the path to success.
