One thing I have learned from being a special education teacher is how every child learns differently, especially those with learning disabilities. Special education students learn through multiple teaching styles, strategies, and learning environments. It's my job to give them the appropriate environment and tools for them to learn. In my classroom I want to give my students the opportunity to feel comfortable in their learning and to be able to stay focus in whatever ways will help them. By donating to our project you will be providing my special education students with a comfortable, calm and "wiggle releasing" place to learn!! My students will be able to walk into my resource classroom knowing they have options on where and how they can learn best. These students will be able to simply focus on their tasks at hand, and not whether their peers or teachers are going to be upset at them for constantly wiggling and tapping their feet. The products I have selected for my classroom will help my students by giving them additional seating options to make more individualized and effective learning choices. The wobble stools and bouncy balls will allow students to sit at tables while still allowing movement, as well as work on core strength needed to help their fine and gross motor abilities. The wobble cushions can move with the student to any seating, even the carpet and will allow students to get their wiggles out. The bouncy bands will be beneficial for students with ADHD and the stools will provided another alternative seating choice for my students. Giving students the option to take charge of their learning will positively affect my students work ethic and overall willingness to learn!
