My students are excited about reading! They love to read books of all shapes and sizes. Big books especially appeal to the younger students I teach. They enjoy spreading the books out on the carpet and traveling on a magical journey as they read the large text and explore the big, bold illustrations. Students will read big books to improve their fluency, exercise reading stamina, locate and read sight words, and practice reading comprehension. They will read the books independently and with partners. Our primary school library needs a set of big books for the students to read! Students will enjoy reading and retelling these popular stories with one another. They will also enjoy me reading these books aloud to them. These books will be used in lessons that support South Carolina ELA Standards and AASL 21st Century Learner Library Standards.
