My students are on the autism spectrum and have intellectual disabilities and are served in a sub-separate classroom. They attend a Public Day School for students with Autism in Lawrence, MA. The school has six substantially separate classrooms for students in grades one through eight. Our school utilizes the strategies of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and the values of the University of North Carolina TEACCH Autism Program. Each ond of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. I have a very busy group of boys. My three paraprofessionals and myself spend our day working on functional academic skills, functional communication skills, social skills, increasing appropriate interactions including play skills and sharing all the while trying to decrease behaviors.
