The hands-on manipulatives will help my students explore and learn to read and further their knowledge about shapes and number sense. Math and reading are critical subjects that are taught in the Kindergarten classroom. My students will benefit from the many hands-on tools I have selected for my classroom. These manipulatives will benefit students this year and in years to come. The reading manipulatives will be used during our 90 minute reading block. Students will work in pairs and in small groups to recognize letters and make words. The math manipulatives will be utilize during our 60 minute math block to help my students learn shapes, sort colors and shapes, validate number sense and explore geometric shapes. My students receive extra intervention through data collection and organizing like-ability groups so I can better assess and access the needs of my students.
