Students learn where they are comfortable! Everyday my students spend approximately 5 hours in my classroom. One of the ways that I have found has a profound impact on how my students learn is by allowing them the ability to move in the classroom. Having flexible seating in my classroom would mean that more students would be able to enjoy parts of the day in a seat that is comfortable and empowers them with a love of learning. By allowing students to use floor cushions, stools, soft chairs, and other seating options would inspire my students. Everyday during reading and writing workshop, my students find flexible seats throughout the room where they can devote time to reading cherished stories and learning to write with passion. I can only imagine how having some of these great seating options would energize their efforts.
