My students are so curious and LOVE to learn. Many of them come from very low income families and single parent homes. My current class has overcome so many horrible tragedies this year. We have experienced everything from a student falling into a fire and being severely burned to 2 students having their fathers murdered, and the list just goes on. How do we expect students to come to school and learn when they are in the midst of such awful tragedies? I have never in 20 years of teaching had to help so many students carry on after such sadness. My hope as a teacher is to give them the tools and love to be able to love coming to school. I want school to be a safe haven for them. This is a very special group of students I am proud to walk through the year with.
