I hope to provide my students with a technologically-interactive, project-based learning environment. My mythology students will not just read the texts, followed by a test. My students want more. This funding will allow for a more thorough learning experience. Readers are leaders, especially when the 21st century critical thinking skills are utilized with reading strategies. My students will be exposed to a wide variety of reading strategies for individual reading, as well as Pair/Share, Read Alouds, and other partner and group strategies. I requested one one Apple iPad Air for my classroom because students in each class period can share the iPad. Students will use the iPad Air to experience a variety of cutting-edge software such as: See Saw, Chatter Pix, Plicker, Blogger.com, Storyboardthat.com, Comic Master, QR codes, Slidebean, Padlet, and others. The iPad Air provides students with a more interactive learning environment. The iPad Air allows students to focus more on project-based learning, as well as practice digital citizenship All students deserve the opportunity to challenge themselves with difficult texts, such as the Odyssey and Iliad. All students, regardless of the size of their communities, need to make connections between texts and today's world. Students need to pair reading skills with the world's ever-changing technology. This will lead to improved 21st century critical thinking skills.
