The purpose of this project is to transform our classroom from a traditional classroom to a student-centered space that promotes academic success. Who likes to work in a an environment with little to no flexibility? Evolving the classroom space to meet students’ individual needs impacts how they learn, how they interact, and the entire classroom experience. My students need more options than the hard plastic chair and traditional desk space. They need different workspaces. These spaces will consist of balance balls, wobble chairs, bean bag chairs, pillows, and Stabili-T-Stools. Multiple studies have been done indicating that students who are provided with different seating options that allow them to move, perform better in the classroom. It is my hope to create a classroom environment that encourages student motivation and higher engagement. I am excited to provide many seating options. When a learning space evolves, research shows students' work improves immensely, their grades improve, and just the conversations they have with each other are more invigorating and stimulating.
