Whether we are learning from home or learning in our classroom, students will be hearing me read them many stories. Kids need to see themselves in stories. As a kid, I saw many stories that represented me. Some of my students are not as lucky. I would like to expand my reading library to reach all of my students from all backgrounds. As a teacher, my goal is to foster my students love of books and confidence in themselves. They need to hear books that are relevant in their lives. If we are going to close the achievement gap then we need to help students connect to learning. If you are able to donate, I will be purchasing diverse books that will help students connect both culturally and emotionally. Thank you so much.
