Students love walking into a room that has been transformed into something new. It leads them into a higher level of learning and leaves them wanting more! In this transformation, Minchew's Bakery, students will walk into a bakery style set up to focus on a standard that usually gives a little trouble, Author's Purpose. As student's enter the bakery they will find an apron, and a bakers hat to set the tone. Student's would be asked to work in groups to find the authors purpose of texts that are on their desks. The desks will be covered in checkered table clothes to give that bakery feel. When they think they have found the correct authors' purpose they will place it in the pie pan that is labeled to "cook." If they have gotten the answer correct the teacher will then give them permission to test their fate on the pie face game! After someone has been pied, they will clean their area and continue on with the next passage.
