My classroom is full of students excited to learn. In our room we have a wide a range of academic abilities. Our self contained classroom is filled with 1st, 2nd and 3rd grade students all reading around a Kindergarten-beginning of 1st grade reading level. The needs of my students range from dyslexia, intellectual disabilities, ADHD, learning disability and students with autism. They often struggle with concept of print, and learn best through technology and hands on activities. Can you imagine spending all day everyday in a room where you don't understand most of what's happening? My classroom needs pictures and activities to help these students develop English! The purpose of this project is to provide audible books, non fiction books, and word work activities for these English Learners. The materials and supplies that I am requesting for my students will help bridge the gap between their reading disability and their comprehension level. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! The listening center will be part of our reading workshop. Students will have the opportunity to "read" and listen to books on CD to support their language and vocabulary development.
