Chromebook laptops in the English 12 classroom will be an essential tool for students to conduct a 16 week-long research project. Students will be asked to identify an issue affecting their neighborhood and propose a researched solution to City Hall. My goal by the end of the year is for my students to develop and strengthen the skills necessary to affect change in their community and the world at large as active citizens. To meet this end, students are practicing critical listening, thinking, and writing skills as they research their neighborhood, identify an issue they would like to address, and creating and presenting a proposal to elected officials. Ultimately my goal is for students to become active participants and agents of change in their neighborhoods and in doing so, become more capable academics and scholars.
