Through running a coffee cart, students will learn and practice functional skills in a fun and motivating way. They will take orders, fill orders, make change, and develop relationships with other staff members and students. This will be an amazing opportunity for students with special needs to contribute to our school. Students in my program truly need a hands on approach in order to learn academic, functional, and social skills. This project will give them the opportunity to gain the skills they need for the future in a fun and motivating way. Running a small business will make them feel successful and important. The Kuerig coffee maker I have requested will be easy for students to operate and make one order of coffee at a time. It will also allow several students to make coffee and fill individual orders upon request. I have requested Kuerig flavored coffee cups and disposable serving cups to get us started. We plan to use our profits from selling coffee to restock our supplies.
