Students have an innate need to move, yet on-task behavior and classroom management challenges prevail when students are required to sit sedentary at a desk. By providing options for students, we can create better health habits and boost brain power while reducing sedentary seating risks such as diabetes, heart disease, heart attacks. Studies have shown that when students move at school, grades go up, behavior problems and absences decrease, and core academic subjects are improved for students who take part in active lessons. Movement increases oxygen to the brain and creates structural changes in the central nervous system. Studies suggest that regular physical activity supports healthy child development by improving memory, concentration, and positive outlook. It also shows that students need to move to focus more on complicated tasks and by increasing their activity within the classroom. Stand up desks provide yet another opportunity to find the perfect fit for all students. It is my job to ensure they may all learn and grow to their highest potential by any means necessary!
