Two years ago I walked into my new school and classroom to find myself with 20 old desks and chairs that were just randomly placed in my room. The desk were various sizes and different colors. When setting up my classroom, a feeling of disappointment came over me because I felt the desks that were left for my students didn't create the type of learning environment I aspire to create for my students. My hope every year is to create a classroom that the students are proud of and makes them feel good about walking into every day. This past year I took those old desks and painted them with our school colors, name, and inspirational quote. I saw on the students' faces how excited they were to have the most unique desk in the school and this inspired me to do more.
I am requesting 7 bench/tables that will allow them the opportunity to work in large groups, small groups, and independently in a way that effectively utilizes classroom space.
Your donation will help provide my students with the type of desks they deserve and allow me to create my ideal learning environment for my students. These benches/tables will allow the class to use them as benches during community meeting, whole group instruction, and group discussions. The benches can be quickly turned into an individual work space by folding down the back into a table. The tables can then be placed together to create a picnic table allowing the students to work in small groups. These benches will help to provide my students with a desk that can serve them in many different ways.
