The Native American headdress, dream catcher and flute will help my students become more engaged in what they reading through first-hand knowledge, therefore making the connection between what they are reading and what they are seeing. My students do not have the opportunity to travel to other parts of the U.S. to explore Native American tribes and their arts. This will be continued into the third quarter by providing images of earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes so that students can visualize up close what these natural events are like without physically being there. Engaging students will be continued through 4th quarter when we start reading texts about earning and learning about money. I will set up our room as a bank vault, have play money around, maybe a couple of cash registers for students to become engaged in learning about money.
