My students struggle with motivation to learn due to their outside experiences and environments. It is hard to engage my students in learning when it is hard for them to understand why it matters. I want to prove to my students that focus and comprehension can be helped and increase through an increase in movement within the classroom. I want to use fitness trackers to make it like a competition in my classroom because all students this age thrive on being the best, but have problems focusing which leads to less retention of the curriculum. I know that this new and engaging way of teaching will take practice and understanding of expectations, but I feel my students would take to it very well. I want to prove to my students that movement and physical activity increases will also allow them to see an increase in their grades, which will also increase their self confidence.
