As a school site, our school will be piloting Reader's Workshop in specific grade levels. I plan to facilitate Reader's Workshop as an set of strategies to accelerate student achievement. In order to effectively implement Reader's Workshop, my classroom needs leveled libraries to provide students books with in their Zone of Proximal Development. If awarded a grant, I would allocate the resources to purchase fiction and nonfiction leveled libraries within the K-6 grade level range. Students would be allowed to "go shopping" for books for their book bags so that they are always have a good book at hand. I am certain that the Reader's Workshop model will instill a passion for reading in my students and support their literacy development.
