My school just built a new wing, and I am one of the lucky ones to move into it. Sadly, a handful of items didn't make it through the BIG move (our big bookshelf and our classroom library's futon). Before this new classroom, my classroom was in the 104 year old schoolhouse---mold, leaks, and character in all. Although our little schoolhouse was historical and special, it wasn't too friendly to our classroom furniture (or our allergies). On top of that, the move didn't help our furniture at all. I am hoping to create a cozy, warm, and welcoming classroom feel for my brand new students this August. I know my students, as well as myself, would so appreciate making our classroom have this aura. We would have an incredible classroom library with a futon for my students to have flexible seating and great reading time. The bookshelf will help me keep our small group supplies organized for guided reading and guided math. The 9X12 rug would help my students stay comfy and focused during our morning meetings, read alouds, and whole group time.
