My students will each have a self-cooling towel to offset the oppressive heat in our classroom. Last year, we suffered temperatures above 90 degrees for 9 straight weeks. Students felt faint and dizzy, some had bloody noses. We lost a great deal of teaching and learning time each day because of the heat. It is impossible for them to keep their concentration on academic tasks without relief from the heat. Our district does not have the funds to provide air conditioning for all of the schools that need it. This is my way of trying to solve the problem affordably.
