Currently, we do not have enough calculators at our school for each student to have access to one during class. As a result, our students are falling behind when it comes to learning about the technology and resources necessary to be a contributing member of society in today's modern world. Without these resources, our students are unable to compete with their more technologically advanced peers and are at a major disadvantage for their futures. Additionally, students are unable to learn how to solve certain problems because of the severe lack of calculators. This affects not only their test scores, but also their self-esteem. Our current solution to this problem is to borrow calculators from other schools in our building when possible. Obviously, this is not a sustainable solution and we would much prefer to have our own set for our students.
